Exceptional Diving Experiences

What makes diving in Bira special

Rich Marine Life

Every dive is different

The reefs around South Sulawesi are home to our resident stars: Black Tip and White Tip Reef Sharks, Marble Rays, and Green Turtles cruising through the current.

Given the right conditions, you will encounter impressive schooling action with Triggerfish, Trevally Jacks, and Barracudas.

For those who love the small stuff, Bira delivers Macro Wonders: vibrant Nudibranchs, elusive Seahorses, and countless critters hiding in the reef.

Healthy Corals

Pristine underwater gardens

Bira's underwater landscape features thriving hard and soft coral gardens that have remained remarkably healthy.

The combination of strong currents and fewer tourists than other more well established destinations means you'll dive over colorful reefs bursting with life.

It's the kind of diving that reminds you why you fell in love with the ocean in the first place.

Rare Encounters

The special moments

We don't promise them, but lucky divers in Bira have spotted Whale Sharks, Mola-Molas, Manta Rays; Hammerhead, Tiger and Bull Sharks.

These encounters are rare and seasonal, but when they happen, they're unforgettable. We'll never guarantee them, but we'll always keep our eyes open for you.

About Us

We are Phoebe, Sylvain and Robin, 3 half-French, half-British friends who fell in love with Indonesia as travellers. For several years, we spent as much time here as we could, diving and getting to know the culture.

We wanted to start a small business that would support locals and provide an enjoyable and safe diving experience for visitors. We also had to stay true to our values – conservation, community and fun.

Blue Planet Dive Village was born in 2019 with an amazing team of Bira locals. Since then, we've been slowly re-investing and expanding, building new accommodation and expanding our fleet of boats.

More of a close-knit village than a conventional resort, what distinguishes Blue Planet is the convivial atmosphere that reigns here. Seasoned fun divers and complete beginners can mingle with interns from the Indo Ocean Project who live on-site for several months.

We're so proud of what we and our team have built here, and we can't wait to share it with you!

About Bira

Tucked away on the southern point of Sulawesi, Bira is a quiet but vibrant small town built around several ports and endless white sandy beaches. It's a great place to take in the views from the oceanfront cliffs, check out the unique boat-building community or explore the many hidden caves in the area.

Small, family-run restaurants here serve up incredible local cuisine (as spicy as you want!) and the music of the local mosques can often be heard across the water.

Access Bira by flying into Makassar then travelling the six-hour drive southeast in a private or shared car with a driver. Ask us for more information.
